Portfolio

Check out some of my projects below. Some are found on the iOS App Store, others on GitHub and a few on the web.
Hit me up if you would like to collaborate on a project or need some help with an app or website.

QuoteQuik

My first major project inspired by a friend who wanted an easier way to quote landscape projects. QuoteQuik is designed to help the small business owner easily generate estimates / quotes on-the-go. Examples of industries benefiting from QuoteQuik include construction, landscaping, musicians, freelance and service providers. You can check it out on the iOS App Store.

Video Poker Smash

Video Poker Smash stemmed from my love of poker. When in Las Vegas, I enjoy spending some time relaxing at a video poker machine. After downloading and playing a few versions on my iPad, I decided to challenge myself to make my own version, so that when I ran out of money, I could reload at will 😁. VPS can be found on the iOS App Store now!

WOD Math

My 2nd iOS App Store submission was born from my love of CrossFit. The box I coach at, Dawson Community Fitness, was constantly trying to compute bike → row → running conversions in WODs, so an app idea was born. Throw in the requests for help with calculating your score and math help when loading a barbell and you have WOD Math!

You Know Nothing Trivia

My first app on the iOS App Store. Looking back, this was way harder than it should have been, but we have to start somewhere. API calls seemed impossible to me, but You Know Nothing Trivia helped bring them into focus. This fun little trivia app will always be my first, so I will forever love it.

Dad Jokes Widget

My kids hate dad jokes (don't they all 😂). After WWDC 2020, I wanted to learn widgets and torture my kids during quarantine. So I did. This silly widget simply displays a new dad joke on the widget every hour, with random background photos to bring the joke to life. Not App Store material, but I keep it on my home screen and make sure to remind my kids that I am the Dad daily!

Ron Swanson-isms Widget

Who doesn't love Ron Swanson?? After Dad Jokes, I decided the world needed Ron Swanson quotes in widget form on their phones. I whipped up this silly widget and submitted to the App Store. Apple disagreed and rejected it, as it "had no value or purpose". While I tend to agree with that, it does bring a smile to my face, so it lives on my home screen along side Dad Jokes.

Yo Mamma Jokes

Tik Tok popularized Siri reading Yo Mamma jokes. Keeping with the theme of tormenting my family with silly jokes, this beauty came to be. The app simply has Siri read a random Yo Mamma Joke. The beauty is that I have set it as a shortcut to triple tap on my phone. So, literally with the tap of a finger, I can make my family laugh.

Silicon Valley API

One of my favorite projects, because I did it with my oldest son on a Sunday afternoon. We love watching Silicon Valley on HBO and wanted a way to get random quotes from the show. We built a web scrapper in Python, scraped countless quotes, and put them all in an API for the world to use. You can try it out here.

sebodycomposition.com

My first ever solo website. Friends of ours were looking to change their complicated and outdated website to a simple site with the ability for clients to sign up for appointments and pay online. While I do not maintain the site anymore, the initial build and launch was a success and a lot of fun to build.

dawsonfit.com

This bones of this site were built by my good friend Dylan W. During the build, he took the time to teach me some basic web dev skills, and after constructing the backbone, turned it over to me. I learned so much completing the details and maintaining / updating the site over the next year. Thank you Dylan for getting me started in the Web Dev world!
